This is the number to call for immediate emergency police, fire, or medical assistance.
Dial 9-1-1 for:
- Crimes in progress
- Life-threatening situations
- Fires
- Serious traffic accidents with injuries
- Medical emergencies

What to do when calling 9-1-1?
Remember these facts in order for assistance to be dispatched quickly:
- Remain calm
- Be prepared to provide the correct address of your emergency and the phone number from where you are calling
- Stay on the phone until the call taker has terminated the call - do not hang up
- Keep in mind that help is being sent as the call taker receives your information
- Provide all necessary information

What if I can only communicate by TTY or TDD?
All Troy Police/Fire call takers are equipped with TTY (Teletype Writer) and TDD (Teletype Device for the Deaf) detectors and can communicate with TTYs/TDDs from their workstations.

What if I accidently dial 9-1-1?
Please stay on the phone until you speak with a 9-1-1 call taker. Do NOT hang up. Otherwise, if the 9-1-1 call taker is unable to verify there is no problem at your location, police officers will be sent.

How do I obtain a copy of a police report?
Copies of police reports may be obtained in approximately two business days. Contact the Records Bureau at 248-542-6161 and Press Option # 2, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
