Firearm safety and security is an issue of great concern to everyone, and unsecured firearms in the home present the potential for tragedy.


The Police Department will give a free trigger or cable type gun lock to any adult Hazel Park resident who asks for one. Residents  may obtain a lock at the Police Department between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.


The department encourages all gun owners to properly secure their firearms and store them in areas which are not accessible to children.
